Celebrating Lammas (Lughnasadh)
Celebrating Lammas (Lughnasadh)
Lammas (Lughnasadh) is upon us once again. Take some time to relax in the summer heat, and reflect on the abundance of the upcoming fall months.
It's a time to begin reaping what we have sown throughout earlier months, and transition into the fall season. Another Sabbat, another opportunity to be joyous and grateful for all that Mother Earth and the Universe provides for us.
As we move into August with open arms, there are many different ways you can celebrate Lammas. Most often the focus is on either the early harvest aspect or the celebration of the Celtic God, Lugh.
What is Lammas?
WAYS TO CELEBRATE
Here are a few ideas to ignite the Spirit of this Sabbat
Get Crafting!
Craft a doll of corn, or create your own corn garland.
To make your own corn doll- use wheat, barley or corn stalks to create a doll that represents the harvest and place it on your altar or dining table.

Perform Lammas Magick
As we move into the month of August, we are surrounded by bright colours, cooler evening temperatures and a renewed feeling of motivation or organization around our home.
Performing a cleansing or protection spell to cleanse any stagnant or lingering energies is a great way to work some magic around the hearth and home.
Honouring Mother Earth
Land and the power of nature are at the basis of this celebration. Thank her and reflect on the footprint you are leaving behind.
Go outside and meditate in nature and feel appreciation in your heart for all the gifts from nature that are bestowed upon us.
Perhaps discover new ways you can recycle more, drive less and re-use/ up-cycle items in your home.
The Perfect Feast
Lammas, or Lughnasadh, is the time of year when the gardens are in full bloom. Root vegetables, fresh herbs, and plenty of abundance at local farmer's markets, or even your own back yard!
Take full advantage of the flavours around us. Invite over some friends and family, bake some Lammas bread and get grilling!
Bask in the appreciation of your many blessings and modern day luxuries.
Food has never been so readily available compared to generations before. Take nothing for granted, and don't forget to smile and laugh along the way!
Blessings to all,
The Holy Santo Crew ❤️
